Preparation of Cross-linked Chitosan with Functional Ionic Liquids and Its adsorption Equilibrium of Cu(Ⅱ)ion
1.Introduction The presence of heavy metal ions from industrial waste waters, fertilizer, metal fabrication, paints, pigments, batteries, etc. Has endangered public health and the environment greatly. Many methods such as ion exchange, precipitation, adsorption, and membrane processes have been used for the removal of these toxic metal ions 1. Of all the adsorbents, chitosan has proved to be an effective one to removal the heavy metal ions due to its large number of flee amino groups 2. However, chitosan is soluble in dilute acidic solutions, which have limited its application in this field. Therefore, various physical and chemical modifications have been developed to avoid this disadvantage. The most useful way is to prepare cross-linked chitosan3. Herein, Cross-linked chitosan with functional ionic liquids (CCTS-FILs) via the homogeneous reaction in aqueous acetic acid solution was synthesized for the first time, and its adsorption characteristics on Cu (Ⅱ) ions were also investigated. The results show that the new adsorbent is effective for the removal of Cu (Ⅱ) and its adsorption capacity is 68.5 mg/g.
