Synthesis of Structurally Well-Defined Telechelic Polymers by Organostibine-Mediated Living Radical Polymerization. In Situ Generation of Functionalized Chain Transfer Agents and Selective ω-End Group Transformations
1.Introduction There has been growing interest in new synthetic methods for the preparation of well-defined polymers with controlled chain-end functional groups. These end-functional polymers, as exemplified by telechelic polymers, serve as precursors for block and graft copolymers, and cyclic, branched, and cross-linked polymers.1-3 These well-controlled polymers are conventionally prepared by living anionic and cationic polymerizations with the aid of functional initiators and/or transformations of the living polymer ends,4,5 However, the stringent polymerization conditions required and the low functional group compatibilities of these polymerization methods limit synthetic versatility.
