Shape-controlled Synthesis of Palladium Nanoparticles by Microwave Irradiation
1.Introduction Shape-controlled synthesis of Pd, as well as Ag, Au, and Pt, nanoparticles has attracted much attention because of its extraordinary properties. In the past decade, Pd nanoparticles with various morphologies have been prepared. PVP-stabilized Pd colloidal nanopartiles coexisting with various geometric shapes such as triangular, pentagonal, hexagonal, square, and rhombohedral Pd as well as truncated cubes or octahedral, decahedra, and icosahedra were obtained by fast reduction of Pd salt with methanol1. Pd nanobars and nanorods could be prepared with high yields and good uniformity by using a modified polyol process in which PdCl12-was reduced by ethylene glycol (EG)2.
