Novel Polymeric Composites of Boron Nitride Nanotubes
1.Introduction Boron Nitride Nanotubes (BNNTs) are an intriguing nanoscale material which has similar structure with carbon nanotubes.For instance,BNNT is an electrical insulator with a 5.5 eV band gap and its electrical response can be tuned by doping or deformation.BNNTs have also shown piezoelectric behavior.In addition, BNNTs may find interesting uses in polymeric composites,with potential to rival or even surpass CNTs due to their superior thermal and chemical stabilities,straight shapes,superb rigidity and elasticity.
