Synthesis of Ce,N co-doped Mesoporous TiO2 and Study on The Photocatalytic Properties
1.Introduction An intense research activity has been recently devoted to the preparation and characterization of nitrogen-doped titanium dioxide, N-TiO2, which shows a significant catalytic activity in various reactions performed under visible light irradiation 1. However, the practical application of the N-TiO2 is still hindered by its low reactivity and quantum efficiency t2. To solve this problem, TiO2 photocatalysts codoped with nitrogen and metal or other non-metal ions are regarded as a promising approach 3. On the other hand, TiO2 with a large surface area and a porous structure is expected to exhibit outstanding photodegradation properties4. Usually, mesoporous TiO2 is prepared by template-based methods using soft templates (surfactant and block polymers) and hard ternplates (porous silica, polystyrene spheres, porous carbon) 5-6. In the present work, we report a simple one-step, template-free method to synthesize Ce, N co-doped mesoporous TiO2 (Ce-N-TiO2) microspheres. The co-doped mesoporous TiO2 spheres show higher visible-light photocatalytic activity than the N-doped TiO2 and P25.
