Enzymatic Biosensor Based on Colloidal Gold-Functionalized MWCNT Composite Electrodeusing Cyclic Voitammetry
1.Introduction The detection and quantification of alcohol with high sensitivity, selectivity and accuracy are required in many different fields from the food industry to clinic analysis, from investigating of the adulterations to the monitoring of the natural processes 1. Given that the classic methods (such as titration, colorimetric methods, spectrometric and chromatographic methods) used for the determination of alcohol quite complex, time consuming and need expensive instrumentation 2. Therefore, the development of new simple, inexpensive and robust alcohol detection method is of great importance. Electrode modification with earbon nanotubes (CNTs) has been shown to produce electrocatalysis on NADH electrooxidation, thus allowing the efficient construction of dehydrogenase-enzyme based electrochemical biosensors 3. Conceming enzyme biosensors based on CNT-composite electrodes, they have shown to possess improved analytical performance as a consequence of coupling the unique properties of CNTs with the well-known advantages of composite electrode designs such as simple renewability and low background currents 4, and wide range of functionality and cost effectiveness 5.
