Emulsifier-free Core-shell Polyacrylate Emulsion with Diacetone Acrylamide and Nano-SiO2
1 Introduction Water-borne polymer emulsions are an important class of materials in the coating and ink industry. Environmental and legislation pressures have driven industry to accelerate Green Environmental Protection. However, most of water-borne polymer emulsions contain emulsifier. The residual emulsifier in emulsion would have negative effects on the purification and the properties of the products and induce the environmental pollution. To avoid the drawbacks resulted from emulsifier, great efforts are carried out by researchers to eliminate or reduce it from the polymer.Emulsifier-free emulsion polymerization is an alternative for solving this problem.Monodisperse polymer microsphere formed has clear surface and may be used in coating industry.Until now,few studies have reported the results about diacetone acrylamide (DAAM) on emulsionfrer-free emulsion polymerization in the presence of nano-SiO2.
