Self-assembly of CuO Single-crystalline Nanosheets into Peachstone-like Superstructures
1.Introduction As a p-type semiconductor with a narrow band gap(Eg=1.2eV), Copper oxide compounds are among well-known technologically important materials that exhibit potential for use in diverse application areas including in solar energy materials, electronics, gas sensors, magnetic storage media, optical switch, batteries, and heterogeneous catalysis1-3. In this paper, we present an ionic liquid-assisted hydrothermal method for the synthesis of uniform peachstone-like CuO crystals self-assembled with single-crystal nanosheets. A series of control experiments confirm that the kind of cation about ionic liquids, the amount of ionic liquids, the reaction time and the heating menthod have direct influences on the morphology of the products.
