Effect of Chemical Thinning Catkins on Chinese Chestnut Yield and Quality
By thinning catkins, chestnut yield could be significantly increased and the quality of fruits could be improved. But thinning catkins manually is very difficult. The chemical-thinning of chestnut trees catkins is more convenient, more economical and easier than hand-thinning. This paper reported the effect of SXC on Chinese chestnut yield and quality. The result showed that there was significant correlatively between yield and catkins-thinning ratio. Yield of chemical-thinning catkins increased by 32.77％, rate of acarpous cupules reduced by 4.2％, weight of each nut increased by 17.6％, and the amount yield of fruits increased by 38.77％ and the ripeness time moved up 7-15 days.
