Study on use of fiber Raman amplifier in U-band for gas detection
Most gases have then absorption peaks in the U-band, and so, we used ordinary single-mode fiber as the gain medium and a double-clad Er-Yb co-doped fiber laser as the pump source to set up a U-band 1665nm fiber Raman amplifier system for gas detection. We studied through experiments the relationship between the gain of fiber Raman amplifier and the pump power. Experimental results show that when the pump power was 442.0mW, the peak gain of the signal light reached 4,65dB, That is to say, our exper imental system amplified the power of the signal light three times or so, Experimental results showed that our U-band fiber Raman amplifier system can amplify weak signal obviously for accurate gas detection.
