The establishment of a non-invasive continuous blood pressure measure system based on pulse transit time

Most non-invasive continuous blood pressure (BP) meters are developed based on principles of oscillometry tonometry and pulse transit time (PTT). Compared with apparatus based on oscillometry and tonometry, apparatus using PTT to monitor BP is more suitable in space because the sensors which used have simple structure and wear comfortably. A novel method to calculate arterial blood pressure by using wavelet transform to detect the peak value of pulse wave and calculate pulse transit time accurately is introduced, and which was applied in the non-invasive continuous blood pressure measure system. The system has solved problems such as low accuracy and lack of synchronism in collecting ECG and pulse wave signal which exist in other system based on pulse wave velocity. The system has been applied to astronauts daily training and provides a new technique and instrument for non-invasive continuous blood pressure measure in space.
