Gene-certificate Based Method for Network Trust

Inspired by the natural trust principles of mankind, a gene-certificate based method, referred to as GBNT, for network trust is proposed. The concepts and formal definitions of network family, family gene, member gene, parent, child, and visitor of GBNT are presented. Then the bionic mechanisms of gene assignment and gene signature are built, and the algorithms of network-family construction and gene certificate generation are described. Finally, the identity of network users and devices are verified through analyzing their gene codes. By GBNT, the deficiencies of the traditional authentication techniques, such as inferior safety of passwords and ambiguity of subject information in X.509 certificates, are overcome. Further more, the communication traffic of GBNT decreases greatly. Our theoretical analysis and simulation results show that the proposed method is an efficient novel solution to network trust.
