Removement of Ni2+ from waste water by mentallothionein (MT) transgenic cyanobacterium
Transgenic cyanobacterium, Synechococcus sp., was used to absorb the heavy mental ions from industry waste water, according by the high affinity of mentallothionein(MT) in the cells. The waste water contained Ni2+ 44.8 mg/L before it was treated by transgenic Synechococcus sp. PCC7002 with MT gene. The result showed that the concentration of the Ni2+ in the waste water could be decreased to 37.37 mg/L in 36 h by the transgenic cyanobacterium absorption.
