Anodic-cathodic electrochemical ozidation system for o-nitrophenol degradation in aqueous solutions
In this paper, the elimination of o-nitrophenol (o-NPh) in aqueous solutions by electrochemical oxidation at titanium-based bismuth-doped lead dioxide (Ti/Bi-PbO2) anode and carbon gas diffusion cathode (carbon GDC) was investigated. Four factors of the degradation, i.e. current density I, initial pH, electrolysis temperature T, air input A, were studied. Under the conditions of I=20 mA/cm2, pH=4, T=45℃, A=60 L/h, 100% o-nitrophenol removal and 94.6% COD removal has been obtained after 120-minute degradation. The degradation process could be described by pseudo-first order kinetics form.
