Electrocoagulation for the drinking water treatment of polluted surface water supplies
Electrocoagulation was used for treating micro-polluted raw water. Laboratory scale experiments were conducted with two electrode materials namely, aluminum and iron, Aluminum was selected in these experiments. The optimum working pH was found to be in the neutral condition, allowing raw water to be treated directly without pH adjustment. The given current density and operating time were 50A/m2 and 20 min, the removal efficiency of TOC, Oil and NH3-N were 69.9%, 85.7% and 75% respectively, the removal efficiency of TOC higher than commonly methods.
