Characterization of metal species in TSP and PM10 aerosols in Jiaozuo, China
Aerosol samples for TSP and PM10 were collected in April 2007 at two different sampling locations in Jiaozuo, China. TSP and PM10 were collected by mid-volume samplers and the concentrations of major metal elements were quantified by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). The ratios of PM10/TSP were 0.72 and 0.76 at the HPU campus and WIST campus, respectively. These results indicated that the concentrations of PM10 contribute the majority of the TSP fraction. The concentrations of anthropogenic species (e.g. As and Se) in TSP and PM10 measured in urban areas were generally higher than those in a rural environment. The high concentrations of As and Se in Jiaozuo City showed a good relation of coal combustion compared with those studied in other cities in China.
