Planting Techniques of Tamariz Chinensis and Its Effect on Saline Soil Remediation

Tamarix chinensis is one of main salt tolerant species naturally grown in saline seashore areas. In order to approach its salinity tolerance and planting techniques in this region, salt-tolerance of seeds, seedlings and cuttings were tested, meanwhile 8 site-preparation types for direct seeding as well as different planting methods in various seasons also were studied. Through the experiments it was concluded that Tamarix chinensis could tolerant a certain degree of salinity in all growing stages, while for its planting techniques, choosing optimum establishing season and applying the optimum type of site-preparation was crucial. The results of field tests were shown that planting in raining season could help seedling survive and grow well, and the types of ditch-shape or big hole shape of site-preparation were recommended to employ, especially when the sites were in adverse conditions.
