Behaviour of e+ in water in the range 273 – 373 K: influence of intratrack processes

It has been experimentally verified in various laboratories that the triplet positronium (o-Ps) lifetime in water decreases with temperature (T). This result was obtained by means of the standard exponential deconvolution of the PALS spectra. At first sight, this appears to contradict the existence of the Ps bubble state, which is now most generally accepted: thus, the surface tension of water, which decreases with T, should lead to an increase in the Ps bubble size, and, therefore, to a decrease in the pick-off annihilation rate.
