Spontaneous Emission of Positronium Negative Ionsfrom Crystalline Tungsten Surfaces

Positronium negative ion (Ps-), a bound state of a positron and two electrons, is a pure leptonic system. The existence of Ps-was confirmed experimentally by Mills 1 in 1981 using the beam foil method. After the discovery, the method has been employed to measure the Ps-decay rate 2, 3. Recently, we have observed Ps-formed by a new mechanism, spontaneous emission from polycrystalline tungsten surface 4-6. In the present study, we have extended the study to the emission from tungsten single crystals.
