n-Nonadecane embedded in mesopores
Alkanes, the simplest organic compounds, can serve as basis for understanding the processes occurring in more complex organic media. One of the most often investigated alkanes is n-nonadecane. The properties of bulk n-nonadecane were characterized by classic methods (e.g. XRD) as well as by Positron Annihilation Lifetime Spectroscopy 1. The PALS method allows to investigate, besides phase behaviour of n-nonadecane at varying temperature and pressure, the irradiation effects in hydrocarbon chains.
