Positronium formation in polyimide based nanocomposite membranes
Polyimides are known to people in positron and positronium chemistry because some of them such as Kapton(R) And Matrimid(R) Do not form positronium. Investigation of the free volume in these materials with positron annihilation spectroscopy seems therefore not possible. Within this work however results on Matrimid? Nanocomposite membranes are presented showing the existence of positronium in these films. Matrimid nanocomposite membranes were prepared containing hydrophobic and hydrophilic silica particles. The use of these nanocomposite membranes is situated within the gas separation technology.
