The interface of multi-phase polymer systems studied by positron annihilation
It is useful to compound high density polyethylene (HDPE) and polyamide (PA) to obtain new properties, such as barrier to oxygen 1 or petrol 2.Whereas, HDPE is a non-polar polymer material and PA is a typical polar polymer material. Certain additives are usually used to improve the combination of the system 3. The interfaces of multi-phase polymer systems (such as HDPE/ PA6 (polyamide6), HDPE/PA6/ MA-g-HDPE (maleic acid anhydride grafted polyethylene) and HDPE/ PA6/MA-g-HDPE/MMT (montmorillonite)) are studied by positron annihilation.
