Gamma irradiation effect on microstructure and physical properties of SEBS triblock copolymer
In this paper, Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), dynamic mechanical thermal analysis (DMTA) and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy (PALS) have been used to study the effect of gamma irradiation dose on the structure, free volume properties, thermal stability and mechanical feature of poly(styrene-b-ethylene-co-butylene-b-styrene) (SEBS) triblock copolymer. Gamma irradiation was carried out at room temperature in air with a 60Co-γ-ray source with the different doses. The FT-IR results showed that the most interesting features had developed in the carbonyl stretching vibration region, in which the formation of a wide variety of oxidation products was observed upon photo-oxidation and main chain length experiences the three process change.
