The luminescence and defects study of Ce3+ doped Lu3Al5O12 nanocrystals
LuAG(Lu3Al5O12) doped with Ce3+ is a very important scintillating material. The influence of doping with different Ce3+ concentration and different heating treatment temperature on the luminescence and defects properties of Lu3Al5O12 nanocrystals has been investigated, with the aid of emission spectra and positron annihilation lifetime measurements. The results can be stated as follows: the luminescence intensity is enhanced with rising heating temperature and prolonging heating time (Fig. 1). At the same time, the size and concentration of defects detected by PAS were reduced in LuAG:Ce nanocryatals doped with 1.0% Ce3+ (Fig.2).
