Positron Annihilation Study of Zirconia-Based Binary and TernaryNanomaterials
Zirconia-based materials, made of nanometer grain-sized powders, are technologically important since they exhibit advantageous thermal and mechanical properties at high temperatures. The stabilization of the high-temperature tetragonal and cubic phases of these materials may be accomplished by using proper additives, e.g. Y2O3, to the pure ZrO2. Incorporation of a second appropriate dopant allows to improve technologically important properties of these materials, and such ternary systems attract nowadays considerable attention of materials research.
