Study of porous silicon by positron age-momentum correlation
Positron and positronium annihilation investigations were applied to study porous silicon (PS) made by anodization of crystal silicon in HF acid by means of a positron age-momentum correlation (AMOC) technique. Distinct electron momentum distributions were observed from para-Positroniums (p-Ps), free positrons and ortho-Positroniums (o-Ps) pick-off annihilation. The measurements of PS in different gas ambient (N2, Ar, O2) indicated that positronium atoms frequently collided with paramagnetic oxygen molecules in pores and o-Ps were effectively converted into p-Ps. Therefore, o-Ps lifetime decreases but Doppler broadening spectrum is narrowed.
