Preparation of low-metal hydrotreating catalyst using PASCA to modify interaction between metal and its support

On the surface of hydrotreating catalysts, there exists interaction between the metal and the surface sites of the support (MSI), resulting in the change of electron density (Ne) around the metal atom, and hence changing the reductibility and catalytic activities of the metal. o-Ps may chemically react with the metal sites of hydrotreating catalyst, and reduce its lifetime,τ or reaction rate, λ (λ=1/ τ). It has been known that λ is associated with the electron density (Ne) around the metal atom, and related to the change of MSI. Based on o-Ps as chemical probe atom, PASCA is possible to be used as a technique to modify the catalytic activities of hydrotreating catalyst.
