Semiempirical Parameters in the Performance Optimization of Positron Annihilation Techniques
Most of measurements using the various techniques of positron annihilation spectroscopy (PAS) represent routine-like experiments with comparatively short measuring times. However, whenever small effects should be observed and/or the measurements become tedious, long lasting or expensive, performance optimization becomes of high importance already in the design of experiments. Obviously, one should aim at achieving the appropriate statistical significance required for the estimation of the parameters of primary importance with the lowest possible investments and this goal requires a proper semi-empirical characterization of the raw data set.
