COLOUR MARKING OF METALS WITH FIBER LASERS
Laser marking has become the industrial standard for the marking of many materials. The versatility of the laser marking process has meant that steady progress continues to be made over other conventional marking processes such as ink or mechanical scribing. Laser marks are basic contrast marks commonly used for product identification and branding. Current options are mono chrome, however, there is interest in the ability of lasers to colour mark specific materials such as stainless steel. The fiber laser has shown itself to be a versatile tool in this application offering flexibility in parameter selection giving good control of heat input and hence colour.
