The Loss and Chromatic Dispersion Characteristics of the Microstructured Optical Fibres with Large Mode Area
Photonic crystal fibres (PCF) have lots of characteristics that conventional optical fibres do not have. In this paper we used Multipole method to study the loss and the chromatic dispersion of optical fibres with large mode area. We found that effective mode area, chromatic dispersion and the loss of the photonic crystal fibres with large mode area have great relations with the wavelength, holes pitch and the holes diameter of the photonic crystal fibre. In the course of calculating, we considered material chromatic dispersion systematically. To design large mode area PCF, we set up the cladding of the PCF air holes pitch A=7.0μm, number of air holes layers takes three, light wavelength takes 0.8μm-2.2μm, the diameter of air hole is 1.0μm, 1.5μm and 2.0μm respectively. Numerical results are shown in the following figures.
