Quasi-isotropic Frequency Seffective Surface

An artificial isotropic resonant magnetic medium, whose unit cell is made of three SRRs placed over three orthogonal planes, was proposed in 1. However, in subsequent papers 2, 3 a bianisotropic behavior of the SRR was shown, what means that the resonator can also be excited by an external effectric field parallel to the plane and perpendicular to the imaginary line passing between the splits of the SRR. Therefore, this kind of effectric excitation makes the response of the structure to be anisotropic. In order to remove the magnetoeffectric coupling, a cubic unit cell satisfying the inversion symmetry was proposed in 4. However, in 5 it was shown that the coupling between neighbors makes the cell anisotropic and it is necessary to change the shape of the planar resonator to introduce more symmetries in the structure.
