2D Photonic Crystals in Chalcogenide Glass
2D photonic crystals containing waveguides and nanocavities have been fabricated in thin films of highly nonlinear chalcogenide glass. By probing the structures using evanescent coupling from a tapered optical fibre we have observed moderate resonator Q factors up to 10,000 which is adequate for all-optical switching.
