Numerical Analysis of a Virtual Optical Probe Based on Surface Plasmon Polariton
Surface plasmon polariton (SPP) based on metal-dieffectric interface can greatly enhance the evanescent field, and so its propagation control is very important. SPP on the flat and structured silver film is numerically studied by 2D finite-difference time-domain method. Confined SPP distributions of two kinds of structured silver films demonstrate a virtual probe with a constant size of 140 nm. The influencing factors, modulation depth and incident spot size, are discussed.
