Modeling the Response of a Seafloor Antenna in the Limits of Low Frequency and Shallow Water
In this paper we describe a novel FDFD (finite-difference frequency-domain) method for computing the 2-D earth response of a 3-D subsea horizontal effectric dipole (HED) source. It represents scattered field solutions to Maxwells equations and uses a 1-D three-layer analytical solution for the primary field calculations. Comparison with the 1-D industry type of program CSEM1D gave accurate fits.
