Incoherent Writing and Erasure of Cavity Solitons in an Optically Pumped Vertical-cavity Semiconductor Optical Amplifier
Cavity solitons appear as self-localized bright spots sitting on a dark background in a nonlinear cavity that can be written or erased by a local excitation. In this paper, we show that beyond the classical mechanism using coherent field injection, incoherent writing/erasure of cavity solitons is possible using carrier injection mechanisms in an optically pumped verticalcavity semiconductor amplifier. Independence of two solitons with and without the presence of other solitons is demonstrated.
