Terahertz Radiation from the Grating Waveguide Loaded Plasma

A model of generating Terahertz (THz) radiation from a grating waveguide loaded plasma is presented in this paper. The unbounded plasma and effectron beam are guided by an infinite magnetic field paralleling the surface of grating. The linear dispersion relation with the effect of plasma is derived by making use of fiuid theory, and the interactions of beam-wave with plasma are analyzed by numerical calculations. We find that the operation frequency of beamwave is enhanced, the enhancement of growth rate is considerable due to the effect of plasma, and there is an optimum plasma density where the growth rate achieves the maximum value.
