Solitary Waves in Unbounded Cubic-nonlinear Media
We consider a technique aimed at obtaining explicit solutions to the cubic-nonlinear Helmholtz equation which models the wave propagation in a lossless,nonmagnetic,isotropic medium exhibiting a local Kerr-type dielectric nonlinearity,where the linear component of the permittivity is a continuous real-valued function of the transverse coordinate. We solve equation by the method of parametrization and determine explicit particular solutions by specifying the permittivity function as rational functions and rational functions of exponents.
