A Low-cost Shorted-patch Antenna for GSM900/1800 Application
A low cost shorted-patch antenna suitable for GSM900 (890-960MHz) and GSM1800 (1710-1880MHz) base station application is presented. The antenna has two elements operating at 900MHz and 1800MHz independently. The antenna is fed by a 50Ω microstrip feed line and a T-junction. Each element has a pair of shorting plates of proper width to achieve good impedance matching. The substrate of the microstrip feed line and the patch is air, and the cost of the material is reduced.
