Quench Cooling and Quenching Simulation of Steel Parts
This report focused on the heat transfer coefficient (HTC) for quenching simulation of steel parts. It is not easy to estimate the nonuniform HTC on the surface of quenched complex-shaped steel parts like gears. Silver probes are useful for estimation of the HTC. However, the consideration of the effect of shape and size of component on HTC in quenching is often important to improve the simulation accuracy. In order to estimate the nonuniform HTC, the combination between lumped heat capacity method and inverse method and a step-by-step approach that uses the silver rod specimen, the simplified-shape specimen and the real steel part are useful.
