Synthesis of Boron Nitride Nanotubes and Nanoparticles by High-energy Ball Milling and Annealing Process

Boron nitride nanotubes and nanoparticles were synthesized synchronously by high-energy ball milling and annealing process. The boron nitride nanotubes are bamboo-like and the diameter of them is between 20 to 100 nm and the length of the longest tubes reached several micrometers. The boron nitride nanoparticles are uniform and the diameter of them is ranging from 20nm to 100nm, most of the particles are about 70nm. The shape of the nanoaprticles is spherical and flake like and some spherical particles may exist. The difference between the morphology of the nanotubes and nanoparticles may be ascribed to the different growth mechanism of them.
