Mechano-chemical and Thermo-chemical Behaviors of Al-TiO2-B2O3 Reaction System
Al2O3-TiB2 multiphase ceramic is considered to have a wide application prospect. It is mostly in-situ synthesized with the Al-TiO2-B or Al-TiO2-B2O3 reaction system. Ball milling of the powders before sintering has a very important effect on the thermo-chemical behaviors and the reaction model. Therefore, the mechano-chemical and thermo-chemical behaviors of Al-TiO2-B2O3 reaction system were studied systemicly in this paper. The results show that the Al-TiO2-B2O3 composite powders, after 20h ball milling are spherical in shape and 4.35um in median-particle-size. There are a few of new phases such as Al2O3 and TiB2 generated. Solid phase reactions start to happen slowly at about 400℃ by the mechano-chemical force and fiercely at 670℃. The products are mostly Al2O3 and TiB2 after heat treated at 700 ℃.And the products are Al2O3 and TiB2 completely after heat treated at 1000℃.
