Investigation the Effect of Solution Annealing on Intergranular Corrosion of 304 Stainless Steel and Weld Zone

Intergranular corrosion(IGC) is a known corrosion in austenitic stainless steels. Heating of 304 stainless steel caused intergranular corrosion. In this research, base metal and weld zone of 304 austenitic stainless steel, annealed at 950-1100℃ in order to reduce or remove IGC. Heat treatment caused solution of chromium carbide and homogeneity of structure and therefore remove of IGC in base metal and weld zone.
