DANIELI-PQM for Controlling Mechanical Properties of Heat Treated Plates
Heat treated steel plates are used in the manufacturing and construction industries where the demand for combination of high strength, toughness, weldability and wear resistance exceed those obtained from as-rolled products. This includes applications in pressure vessels and structurals such as large storage tanks, earth moving vehicles etc. For superior quality product it is expected that the product should have uniform mechanical properties across the width and through the thickness. DANIELIs PQMTM Is an online system meant for estimation of mechanical properties especially the Yield strength (YS), Tensile strength (TS), and Hardness (HV) after quenching and tempering operation. The estimation of mechanical property is based on the final microstructure and its evolution during quenching and tempering operation, which is governed by a set of interconnected models - Thermal Model, Phase Transformation Model, and Structure-Property Correlation Model. DANIELI-PQM has high accuracy of ± 54 Mpa for YS and UTS, and ± 32 for HV.
