A Study on Relationship between Contact Temperature and Bridge Shape at Low Speed Breaking Contact
In this paper, in order to clarify the effects of heating value and thermal diffusivity on the bridge generation changing with time for making the highly reliable contact, the bridge was observed by the microscope with high-speed camera on the breaking contact. The effects of heating value and thermal diffusivity on diameter and length of bridge changing with time were discussed. In the result, the bridge grew up with diameter increase when the contact temperature rose. The shape of the bridge also changed additionally. However, the bridge broke because the length of the bridge became long. As the value of the current increased from 1.8A to 3.6A, the bridge length and diameter become long. Therefore, it was demonstrated that the bridge for material with high thermal diffusivity is not able to be continued even if the heating value increases.
