An Arc Ezperiment System Based on a High-speed Camera and Image Analysis Techniques
In this paper, we design an arc experiment system based on a high-speed camera and image processing techniques. The system is composed of a step motor, a ball screw, a contact separation structure, an adjustable permanent-magnet for arc blowing, a sealed room, a vacuum extractor, an inflation loop and a high-speed camera. The arcing process is photographed with a high-speed camera. Meanwhile, the arc voltage and current fluctuations are measured with a data acquisition card based on PCI Bus simultaneously. Image processing techniques are used to analyze the characteristics of the arc. By using this system, we can study the shapes of the arcs and the arc motion during arcing under different conditions, such as the contact material, the gas composition and pressure in the sealed room, the opening speed, the arc power and the external magnetic fields for arc blowing.
