Simulation and fatigue damage tolerance design of torsion bar under dynamic loads
A dynamic analysis for a torsion bar of a special vehicle is carried out by use of finite element method.Finite element analysis software ANSYS is used to establish the analytical model and to calculate the response of components. In the process of analysis, the dynamic loads of running vehicle are simplified to a set of concentration forces changing with time.NEWMARK direct integral method is used in FEM dynamic analysis. On the basis of FEM analysis, random load spectrum is established to carry out fatigue damage tolerance analysis of torsion bar.Stress intensity factor of sheet surface crack is analyzed by Irvins theory, and critical crack length is also calculated.Paris fatigue crack propagation formula is introduced to describe relation between crack length and cycle number. The Rain-flow counting method is combined with Miners cumulative damage criterion to count the load spectrum data and calculate the fatigue life of torsion bar.The result shows that the fatigue life of torsion bar can be used for the damage tolerance design for torsion bar.
