Yield criterion of nanoporous materials under complez stress states
Yield criterion of nanoporous materials subjected to triaxial stress states is explored through incorporating the effect of surface energy into a classical continuum yield function of their conventional porous counterparts.The yield curves on an octahedral plane are shown to be functions of the surface properties and void size.The size dependence of the yield criterion of nanoporous materials highlights the importance of the surface in analyzing the strength of nanostructures.The present results demonstrate a fundamental framework to extend continuum strength theories to nano-scale with substantial surface effect.
