Service life and durability of RC structures ezposed to southern and northern coastal area in China
Based on an on-site investigation and literature survey,comparative analysis on the durability and service life of RC structures exposed to southern and northern coastal areas in China has been carried out.Based on the durability damage characters,the key factors that affect the RC structures durability of southern and northern coastal areas are investigated.The result shows that the corrosion in north is serious than that in south before 1950,but until 1980 the result is exactly opposite because of the mixing air-entraining agent into concrete.So the durability and service life of RC structures vary with time.The main reasons of different durability in southern and northern coastal areas are different corrosion damage type,structure type,cover thickness and exposure environment.
