Autofrettage and shakedown of thick cylinders under thermal and mechanical loads
The optimum autofrettage pressure of power strain-hardening cylinders under constant thermo-mechanical Loadings in plane strain is studied theoretically and validated by finite element (FE) method.In addition,the effect of autofrettage on shakedown behavior of thick cylinders subjected to constant internal pressure and cyclic thermal loads is discussed.Results show that the analytical solutions of the optimum autofrettage pressure are in good agreement with FE results.Under thermo-mechanical loadings,autofrettage of strain hardening cylinders influences elastic shakedown boundaries slightly in Bree diagram and enhances the carrying capacity when the autofrettage pressure is lower than plastic-limit pressure.
