Numerical simulation on ratcheting of a cylinder with a corrosive defect
The pressure vessels subjected to alternating high pressure and temperature under corrosive media are threatened with fatigue fracture affected by cyclic accumulated plastic strain. Many kinds of mechanical experiments are necessary in the failure analysis and safety assessment for these thin wall shells with defects. In article finite element analysis method is utilized to simulating the ratchetting effect or cyclic stress strain behavior of alloy steel shells with a semi-spherical surface defect, and useful results have been achieved.
